Vice-PresidentI am in first year of master's under the supervision of Dr. Papangelakis. My research theme is impacts of urbanization on rivers. I am currently working on a project performing an erosion risk assessment for a watershed in Toronto. I enjoy dancing and collecting rocks!
TreasurerI am a first year MSc student in the collaborative astrobiology program under Dr. Greg Slater. I will be studying microbial biosignatures in bentonite clays. I enjoy spending time outside being active.
ScribeI'm in the fourth year of my PhD in Earth and Environmental Sciences under the supervision of Dr. Eduard Reinhardt. My research involves coastal paleoenvironmental reconstructions using microfossils and geochemistry. Some of my favorite hobbies are swimming and baking.
Social ConvenorI am a first-year Masters student in the earth and environmental science program who will be using climate proxies to study paleoclimatology and reconstruct paleoenvironments under the supervision of Dr. Reinhardt.
Social ConvenorI am a first-year PhD student in Earth, Environment & Society under the supervision of Dr. Eduard Reinhardt and Dr. Sang-Tae Kim, My research involves coastal karst aquifers, and paleo-hydrological reconstructions using microfossils and low-temperature geochemistry. I enjoy cooking and musicals.

Website and Social Media ManagerI am a 2nd year M.A Student in the Geography program under the supervision of Dr.Niko Yiannakoulias. I am studying flood-risk communication by investigating household preferences of flood-risk information for the purpose of improving flood-risk management. Some of my hobbies include; dressing up in medieval attire , swing dancing, fossil hunting and horseback riding.
Special Event CoordinatorI am a first year M.Sc. student in the Earth and Environmental Sciences program under Dr. Elli Papangelakis. I will be studying fluvial geomorphology with an emphasis on the relationship between sediment and channel morphology. I enjoy being outdoors and managing Bluebird Environmental.
FIeld Trip CoordinatorAs of September 2022, I am a first-year MA student under Dr. Gita Ljubicic in the Geography program at SEES. As a part of the Straight Up North team, I will be collaborating with partners in Nunavut to identify research licensing/work permitting agencies and better understand existing licensing/permitting processes across the territory. I enjoy reading, pottery wheel throwing, and playing the ukulele, but most of all, I love spending time in nature, whether it be hiking or camping in forests near or far away.
Field Trip CoordinatorMy name’s Aneesa Rabbani and I am a second year PhD student in the Earth and Environmental Sciences program. I’m being mentored by Dr Janok Bhattacharya and the main focus of our research is on the sequence stratigraphy of the Dunvegan Formation and its hydrogeological implications. I hike for a living and for fun! I’m a bit of an adrenaline junkie, so the role of field-trip coordinator goes hand in hand with my personality!

[email protected] I am a second year PhD student working with Dr. Antonio Paez studying inequities and spatial trends in our transportation systems. I am also part of the Mobilizing Justice Partnership working in the Data Driven Equity Standards group. I am interested in equitable and sustainable transportation and housing, particularly in quantifying and qualifying emissions, affordability, and spatial trends in our urban communities.
Volunteer and Outreach CoordinatorI am Sadia Chowdhury; a first year PhD Student in Transport Geography under Dr. Darren Scott. My research focuses on future mobility based on travel behavior in Urban Area. I am a curious young fellow with a desire to learn something new; my passion for writing and traveling makes me more enthusiastic about the contemporary issues of my society.
Scholarship and Job CoordinatorI am a first year doctoral student with the StraightUpNorth research team led by my supervisor Dr. Gita Ljubicic. My thesis research investigates community experiences with research license review in Nunavut. In my spare time, I enjoy sewing and practicing yoga!
Environmental RepresentativeI am a PH.D candidate in the Environmental Organic Geochemistry Laboratory supervised by Dr. Greg Slater, my research is focused on understanding the transport and environmental fate of volatile hydrocarbons in oil sands end pit lake. I enjoy hiking, watching movies and simply playing with my dogs!

Geology RepresentativeEmma Keefe
[email protected] I am a first year Master’s student in the Structural Geology and Tectonics Research Group with Dr. Alex Peace. My thesis work focuses on evaluating the role of rift-related magmatism and pre-existing structures on the rifting and breakup of Northern Newfoundland from Ireland during the opening of the Atlantic Ocean. I like playing guitar and cooking.
Geography RepresentativeI am a second year Ph.D. student at the Geography program, supervised by Dr. Alemu Gonsamo. My research is centered in developing methods that can use Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) methods, on emulators trained with plant phenology data obtained with remote sensing devices, to derive relationships between weather/climate variables and plant development, as means to better define the influence of climate change in forests. I love photography/cinematography.
